Lago di Garda, Italy

Our second stop this summer was the Garda Lake in Italy. We stayed in a little town, called Gargnano which is located on the western border of the lake, for 3 days. In the last couple of years, we have been to the lake Como and Maggiore which we absolutely loved. So this year we figured it would be a good idea to visit the lake Garda about which I had already heard a lot of good reports. As you probably read in my last post we made our first stop this summer in Strasbourg. So to get to Gargnano we had to drive 6 hours which is less than if we had been driven from home directly. The road was very interesting and beautiful as we drove a long time alongside the lake.  The streets a little narrow and very curvy but the views fantastic!!! To get to the town where our hotel was we had to drive through small towns on the lake Garda which was amazing. These villages have big promenades and …

Strasbourg, France

We started our summer vacation this year with a quick stop in Strasbourg which is located in France some kilometers from the German border. We stayed there only for one night and had one day to explore the city. Strasbourg’s old town is surrounded by the river Ill as you can see on the map below which shows the center of Strasbourg. Within this historical old town, there are all kinds of shopping possibilities, a lot of hotels and restaurants which are mostly located on big places. Strasbourg Cathedral, a Roman Catholic cathedral   I really liked the city of Strasbourg. A lot of big places full of life, small streets with ancient buildings and the beautiful river which reminds me of Amsterdam. Furthermore, the city is the seat of several European institutions and therefore often called the European capital. Must see is, of course, the old town where all touristic attractions can be found. Perfect for a couple of days. Thanks for reading 🙂

Genoa, Italy

The next place we visited last summer was Genoa, Italy. Genoa is the capital of the province Liguria in northwest Italy and the sixth largest city in Italy. In Genoa you can have two different types of vacation: you can explore the old town of Genua which is very beautiful and go shopping but also can have a relaxed time at the beach.   In the following pictures you can see the seaside of Genoa with a lot of state-owned beaches. These are not the prettiest but the fact that this old city has got the seaside is interesting. Walking through the city one would not think that this city is located at a sea.

Baveno, Italy

I’m back with another blog post! These are pictures from my summer trip to Baveno, Lago Maggiore, in Italy. The views of the lake were amazing and the weather perfect. The hotel we were staying in was very big with a lot of space around the building including a pool. In the city of Baveno you can find a loooot of places to eat pizza. But not just any pizza. We literally ate pizza every evening because it was so delicious there! So I would recommend visiting this place to chill at the pool or the sea and eat lots of amazing pizza!

München 2016 (part 2)

Welcome to my second blog post about our trip to Munich! I have already been to Munich once like 9 years ago but obviously I hardly remember anything. So it was amazing to refresh the memories. The city of Munich overall is very beautiful, full of modern buildings with a touch of the Bavarian style. These are some pictures of the most popular place in Munich called the “Marienplatz”. As you can see this is the place where we took the outfit photos . It is the place of the Munich Pinakotheka. These are museums of different kind of art. We went to some of the exhibitions and really enjoyed them especially the modern ones. On our last day in Munich we decided to take the tube to a part of Munich, where the people actually live like “Schwabing”. I am really glad that we went to this place because we got to see a huge park with loads of people just chilling and relaxing on a warm evening! This part of Munich has got a big street, which is …

Berlin 2016

As I told you in my last blog post about Dresden we have been to Berlin, the capital of Germany. I already had been to Berlin once and have been really excited to go the second time! Here are some of the best pictures I took while our stay in Berlin. This is a huge memorial for the over 6 millions Jews who were killed during the time of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany. The blocks are meant to symbolize the graves of the people who persecuted. So as we were on our way to leave Berlin we looked back and saw a rainbow over the Brandenburger Tor! It was so beautiful so that my father stopped on the road for me to take some photos! After World War II the city of Berlin was divided into two parts: West Berlin that was conquered by the western allies (the United States, the United Kingdom and France) and the Soviet sector formed East Berlin. This is the place where the great wall that was the boarder between these two …

Dresden 2016

During my Easter break my family and I travelled to Dresden, the capital of the German state Sachsen, and Berlin, the capital of Germany. This post is going to be about Dresden. At first our plan was just to stay in Berlin for a couple of days but then my father told us that we should combine the trip to Berlin with a day in Dresden. At first we were a bit skeptical that this city could be interesting but we decided to visit it because nobody of us has ever been to Dresden before. So during the second world war the city of Dresden was completely destroyed and afterwards it was cleared up, all ruins were brought out of town so that there was a big free area where they planed to rebuild everything the way it had been. Now the old town of Dresden is a beautiful place to visit with old buildings which have been rebuilt. On some structures one can see light and dark elements, the dark ones are the pieces …

Exploring my home town

So some days ago I was in the city of my home town, Düsseldorf, with my friend, and we wanted to take some pictures. As we searched for a nice place or wall to photograph we discovered some nice places like a records shop! We realized how many cute and beautiful little shops and places we have in our town. The most interesting thing is that these shops are based on one of the streets we walk the most! We just never realized that this place could be interesting and worth walking in! Later that day we talked about how nice the day was and that we should definitely start exploring more. Like in the past we just sat at Starbucks and talked for hours what also can be veryyyy interesting and funny! But after many visits at cafés it is more interesting to see new places! So first we were very hungry and decided to go and eat burgers at Butch Beckers. As you can see on the photo it was very delicious. Then we started taking …

Fuerteventura 2015

Hello! So in October I went to Fuerteventura with my parents and my sister. Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Politically it is part of Spain. It is the second largest of the Canary Islands and has got over 100.000 inhabitants. This vacation was the first time I have been to Fuerteventura and it was amazing. We departed from the Düsseldorf airport and 4 hours later we arrived at the airport of Fuerteventura. The flight was very pleasant, we had a warm meal and could watch some films on the screens in the plane. I don’t know why but we were so lucky to get 9 seat for us 4 so we could expand on these seats. So as we landed in Fuerteventura we could see the beautiful ocean and could feel the heat. When we left Germany we had like 10 ° C there and 4 hours later we found ourselves in the 26 degrees warm Fuerteventura and our fantastic vacation has begun … So the next 4 days …

Thanks Leonie for inviting me to visit you and see the beauty of this town! So yes enjoy the photos! 🙂 Sonja
